During the last 25 plus years, I have worked hard to earn and maintain a reputation for professional ability and ethics, as well as personal and professional integrity.  I have successfully represented plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal trial and appellate courts in civil and criminal matters.  In addition to the private practice of law I have also served as follows:

  • Assistant United States Attorney, U.S. Department of Justice - U.S. Attorney's Office Western District of Texas (responsible for civil litigation trials and appeals as well as criminal prosecutions).
  • State district court trial judge (Travis County).                                                                                                      
  • Deputy Division Chief, Special Crimes Division, Texas Attorney General’s Office.
  • General Counsel to Texas Trust Savings Bank, FSB.
  • Managing trial attorney for the Austin, Texas office of the CNA Insurance Companies.
  • Associate corporate counsel for Centex Corporation (a Fortune 500 Company) - one of the nation's largest single family residential home builders.
  • Liquidation attorney for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in Dallas / Addision and San Antonio, Texas.
  • Volunteer mediator for the Bexar County Dispute Resolution Center in San Antonio, Texas and the Austin Dispute Resolution Center.

Ernest is also a member of the Litigation Section and the Appellate Section of the State Bar of Texas and is a member of the Construction Section and Civil Litigation Section of the Austin Bar Association.  Ernest is also a candidate for credentialed mediator with the Texas Mediator Credentialing Association.
